The 19th Australian Institute of Physics Congress, incorporating the 35th Australian Conference on Optical Fibre Technology, will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, from the 5th – 9th December 2010.
The 2010 Congress will be the biggest and most diverse scientific meeting of the Australian physics calendar. It will attract between 700 – 1000 delegates and will involve most active groups in physics from around the country.
This year's congress will also help celebrate 'Laserfest', a year long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the laser. The laser was first demonstrated in 1960, and this celebration is a collaboration between the American Physical Society, the Optical Society, SPIE and IEEE Photonics Society.
