The Australian Institute of Physics, promoting the role of physics in industry, education, research and the community by:

Early Career PostDocs
Dr Angus Johnston, Dr Nicoletta Dragomir, and Dr Chris Ticknor with Branch Chair Assoc Prof Andrew Peele. After the talks the presenters were given a bottle of wine and certificates in thanks of their efforts.
representing and promoting the physics community to government and other legislative or policy making bodies;
 organising meetings and conferences on research and professional topics;
 promoting and supporting physics teaching and education in schools, colleges and universities;
 encouraging investment in government and industrial research;
 setting and supporting professional standards and qualifications in physics;
 identifying and supporting the needs of physicists in all sectors of employment;
 increasing public awareness and understanding of physics and the role of physicists;
 recognising distinguished contributions to physics.

The Victorian Branch of the AIP has an active membership who promote physics through a variety of programs.

These include:

 monthly meetings in which invited speakers talk about their work in physics
 providing sponsorship for student members to attend AIP sponsored conferences
 promoting Women In Physics.
 taking an active role on issues in physics and science education.

Meetings are open to the public unless otherwise stated. If you are not an AIP member, please register your interest for each meeting you would like to attend by sending an email to gaby.bright "at" versi.edu.au. This will be used to gauge expected audience size and provide a means of contact should the venue change at short notice.
